Seaview Respite Centre

Seaview Respite Centre is a purpose built residential care facility in the Bingham area of Edinburgh which offers respite accommodation for young people, aged 5 - 17 with a range of learning and physical disabilities. The Centre is also home to Family Focus, a support service for families who have a child with disabilities.

The single storey facility provides short-stay accommodation for eight children and young people, with an additional, larger room to accommodate family visits. The Centre also provides a communal dining room, living and social areas for all visitors, a wet play room for arts and crafts activities, a sensory room and a "blue room". The prime aim of the Centre is to create a relaxed, yet fun and stimulating environment for all visitors and the living and sleeping areas boast bright, colourful decor to reflect this.

Construction comprises concrete raft foundation, traditional built brick and block with timber truss and joist roof. The roof finish is a mix of zinc sheet and single ply membrane and the external envelope finish is a mix of facing brick, k-rend and cedar cladding.  All internal walls are blockwork and hard plastered.

Externally, Seaview offers a provides a specially designed sensory garden for visitors to play in safely and securely. The garden incorporates a trampoline, tree-house, tunnels, secure swing set along with specially landscaped areas.
