Buchanan Lodge Care Home

This Project involved the refurbishment of a fire damaged Former Care Home and a New Build Extension, of contemporary design to form a 40 Bed residential Care Facility.

The Care home, which is operated by the Talbot Association, offers accommodation for vulnerable elderly males who have experienced long term homelessness.

The project involved the refurbishment of what remained of the existing building and the construction of a new, two-storey extension, of contemporary design to replace the two single storey wings that had been damaged in the Arson Attack.

The building incorporates energy efficient technologies and boats an insulated render system, energy efficient windows, sun pipes and efficient boiler plant.

The facility provides en-suite bathrooms in all bedrooms which incorporate wet-floor showers. All rooms also include an Alarm Call System so that staff can be alerted if any resident requires additional assistance. An In-house Treatment and Consultation Room is also provided.

A large “Hub” area is incorporated so that the residents can socialise in a relaxed environment. This area also plays host to Art Classes, Events Etc. A TV lounge is situated adjacent to the lounge.
