First Minister Gives Commonwealth Games Kick Start
at Toryglen Site
cont'd

Speaking of the project CBC Managing Director James McAlpine said “the project team here at CBC are delighted to welcome the First Minister and Sir Robert Smith to the site of what will be a fantastic facility for the local community. We began on site in July last year and the progress made to date is astounding. I look forward to seeing the completed facility in October and have no doubt that this centre will be a welcome, and well used, resource in the lead up to the Commonwealth Games”.
In addition to providing a first class community facility for the residents of Glasgow, the centre will also play a prime role in the Commonwealth Games by acting as a warm up venue for athletes as well as a “staging area” for the closing ceremony at nearby Hampden Park. The facility is due for completion in October of this year.
