Minister Gets In the Frame at Loch Lomond Site

Deputy Minister for Environment and Rural Development Sarah Boyack was extremely impressed by the progress of the National Park Authority’s new headquarters on a recent trip to the Balloch site.
The Minister, who travelled to the site by train to witness the erection of the specially constructed, and highly sustainable, Douglas Fir timber frame, took time to tour the site with James McAlpine, the Managing Director of Design and Build contractor CBC, and Project Manager John Ross.
In addition to the 78 metre long indigenous frame, the building also boasts a number of other sustainable features including a biomass primary heating system, minimal mechanical ventilation and a SUDS (sustainable urban drainage system) reed bed. The incorporation of these features have helped earn the building an excellent BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Matrix) Rating. When complete, the two-storey building will feature a spectacular central glazed ‘street’ providing access to all the facilities. NEXT >>
