CBC Handover Sustainable HQ to National Parks Authority

cont'd

In addition to the indigenous frame and insulation, the building also incorporates a biomass primary heating system, minimal mechanical ventilation and a SUDS (sustainable urban drainage system) reed bed. CBC made a major on-site contribution to enhance the BREEAM rating by introducing a project specific Waste Management Plan, metered water and gas supplies, bunding for oil storage on site and Health and Safety visits to local schools etc, etc. The inclusion of these sustainable features helped earn the building an “excellent” BREEAM rating at design stage. The project has also been nominated for a Considerate Constructors award.

Speaking about the project, CBC Managing Director James McAlpine said This is our fifth project to be BREEAM rated in recent years, and the level of sustainable features incorporated into the design is fantastic. Throughout the project, the building has attracted a considerable amount of interest from local residents and the wider public ,and the Site Team have been delighted to respond and to answer questions and, in the latter stages of the project, have welcomed visitors from far afield as Finland who were eager to see the building”.
